Commission your future officer on our expansive back lawn overlooking the Hudson River!  Our Commissioning Packages include a 20-minute time slot for commissioning on the lawn, a US Flag on the lawn for the ceremony, and the Zulu Time Light Fare Buffet. Commissioning ceremonies take place every 20 minutes starting at 1:40 PM. The last time slot is 4:40 PM. The price is $30.95 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity.  

Guarantee a seat on Zulu Time and upgrade to a package with bottle service (either liquor or wine) that includes a sofa on Zulu Time with a table and a cake with your cadet's name on it, and the Zulu Time Light Fare Buffet for up to 6 guests.  Price is $800, inclusive of tax and service.  Or, reserve a dining table on Zulu Time for up to 6 guests, bottle service (either liquor or wine), a cake with your cadet's name on it and the Zulu Time light fare buffet for $600, inclusive of tax and service.  

Commissioning Packages are also available for parties with confirmed Graduation Lunch reservations in MacArthur's Riverview Restaurant.

COMMISSIONING FACTS & FAQ'S

After graduation, new Second Lieutenants can have their own private commissioning ceremonies.  New Second Lieutenants choose a retired or active-duty officer to do the commissioning and family members pin on the Second Lieutenant bars. Often cadets commission together, and it happens all over West Point.

Do we have to be hotel guests in order to book commissioning at The Thayer?  No, we welcome all families who want to celebrate this momentous occasion!
​​What happens if I book my timed slot at The Thayer and West Point changes the timing of Graduation?  The hotel will automatically shift everyone's slots to accommodate the new timing. 
​What happens if I book my commissioning package and my cadet does not graduate?  Please call us.  We will ask you to furnish the separation letter and then we will issue a refund.
May we use a family flag at our commissioning?  Yes.  We will have a flag on a  flagpole for the ceremony, but you are welcome to hold your family flag. 
How long is the light fare buffet offered on Zulu Time?  It is available from 1-5pm.
Are we able to purchase commissioning packages on the day of Graduation?  No and we usually sell out of our time slots well in advance of Graduation day. 
Will we be able to purchase for more guests if our party grows after we reserve?  Yes, but only if we still have availability.  Zulu Time has a limited capacity. 
Which flag has the best view?  They all have amazing views!
